Mahoney and Chauncey selected in 2014 MLB Draft

PROVO, Utah -- Pitcher Kolton Mahoney and shortstop Tanner Chauncey were selected in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by the Milwaukee Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers, respectively.

Mahoney, a sophomore from West Point, Utah via Northridge High, was selected in the 23rd round. He has pitched for BYU before and after serving a mission to Santa Rosa, Calif. Mahoney posted a 6-6 record in 2014 with a 3.97 earned run average and recorded a no-hitter in a 5-0 victory against Nicholls State.

Chauncey, from Las Vegas, was selected in the 35th round. He has been serving in the Brazil Joao Pessoa Mission and played for BYU in the 2012 season as a freshman when he led the Cougars with a .328 batting average.
