Eight recognized in WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll

Eight BYU baseball players were recognized by the West Coast Conference in its 12th annual Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Collin Braithwaite, who had a 3.60 grade point average in pre-management, was recognized for Silver Honors (3.74-3.50) by the WCC. He was joined by fellow freshman Nate Favero, who had a 3.04 GPA for Bronze honors. Both Braithwaite and Favero received mission calls and will not be playing for the Cougars in 2014.
The six Cougar baseball players receiving Bronze level recognition (3.49-3.00) were Andy Isom, Portuguese 3.31; Adam Law, sociology 3.28; Bret Lopez, exercise science 3.29; Adam Miller, psychology 3.19; Cody Shepherd, physical education teaching/coaching 3.10; and Derek Speigner, chemistry 3.09.
“With the many hours we require of these guys athletically, they must be great managers of their time and be disciplined in their academic endeavors to achieve such high academic success,” BYU coach Mike Littlewood said. “I'm constantly amazed at the dedication and commitment to academics these student athletes exhibit.”
Law and Lopez were earlier recognized as Academic All-West Coast Conference selections. Law and Miller both signed pro baseball contracts last month with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks, respectively.
