Poulson named Rawlings WCC Pitcher of Week
SAN BRUNO, Calif.--BYU junior Desmond Poulson is the Rawlings West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week. The right-hander recorded his seventh win of the season and improved his ERA from 3.04 to 2.85.
Poulson retired St. Mary's in order in the first, third and fourth innings. He pitched eight innings of work striking out five and had a 1.12 ERA for the game. The win was key in propelling the Cougars into the WCC tournament.This is the second time this season Poulson has won the award.
Loyola Marymount senior Colton Plaia is the Rawlings West Coast Conference Player of the Week. Plaia hit .500 (8-for-16) with five runs scored, three doubles, two homers and four RBI. The native of Mission Viejo, Calif. drew three walks and stole one base while reaching at a .579 clip and slugging 1.062. Plaia hit safely in all four games, including a 4-for-5 day with two homers, three runs scored and four RBI on Friday vs. Santa Clara. It was Plaia's first multi-homer game of his career.
