LOGAN, Utah — BYU men's and women's track and field athletes totaled two event wins and a handful of personal bests at the Aggie Invitational at Ralph Maughan Track Stadium on Saturday.
Men's Recap
The BYU men recorded two event wins in Logan on Saturday. Spencer Carlile clocked a winning and personal-best 53.12 in the 400m hurdles, beating his nearest competitor by more than two seconds.
Jake Grimsman cleared 2.05m/6-8.75 to win the high jump. Teammate Joe Nelson came in fifth at 1.95m/6-4.75.
Eli Hazlett, a freshman from Moab, Utah, made his collegiate outdoor debut with third-place finishes in both the 200 and 400m. Hazlett clocked times of 21.95 and 47.67, respectively, to reach the podium. Connner Kennedy finished sixth in the 200m with a personal-best of 22.72. Kennedy would also finish third in the 100m with a time of 10.97.
Women's Recap
Emma Johnson (12.28) and Catherine Phipps (13.11) kicked off the day for the BYU women in the 100m, placing third in their respective sections. Both athletes set personal bests in the event.
Georgi Ana Wilson set a new personal best in the 400m, placing third with a time of 1:00.02. Maddie Lempka and Christina Blackmon tied for second in the high jump, both going 1.60m/5-3.
Johnson (25.37) and Sami Oblad (25.71) closed out the afternoon in the 200m, placing first and fourth, respectively, in their section and setting new personal-best times in the event.
The Cougars continue to compete at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Arizona on Saturday with the men's 4x400 set to conclude the night at 9:20 p.m. PDT.
PROVO, Utah — Both BYU men's and women's track and field programs jumped in the latest national rankings on Monday, to No. 13 and No. 10, respectively, as the teams prepare for competition at meets across the country this week.

Rankings and Recognition
BYU women's track and field vaulted 16 spots to No. 10 in the USTFCCCA's national rankings on Monday. The men hopped four spots to No. 13.
Following the Stanford Invitational on April 1, the Cougars boast 14 athletes ranked in the top-25 nationally for results in their respective events. This places these athletes firmly on the path to qualify for the West Preliminary.
Seven of the 14 hold top-10 results, including Courtney Wayment who boasts the nation's No. 2 time in the 1500m at 4:12.81. Dallin Vorkink and Casey Clinger are ranked No. 5 in the decathlon and 10,000m, respectively.
