PROVO, Utah - BYU baseball and Utah will play for the second of three times this year on Tuesday, April 9, at 6 p.m. MT. The game will air live from Miller Park on BYUtv's digital outlets and on BYU Radio and ESPN 960.

BYU vs. Utah Game Notes

The Cougars are at 22-8 and 8-4 in the West Coast Conference, currently second in the league behind LMU at 9-3.

BYU and Utah played last Tuesday, with the Utes pulling out an 8-6 win on a two-out, two-RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth.

Sophomore infielder Jackson Cluff was named a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week and WCC Player of the Week on Monday for his performances at Utah and San Diego. In game three against USD alone, Cluff went 4-for-4 with nine RBIs and a triple short of a cycle, including a grand slam.

Cluff’s National Player of the Week award comes a week after senior outfielder Brock Hale won the same award, marking the first time in program history two players have earned national honors in the same year.

Sophomore left-hander Mitch McIntyre will start on the mound for the Cougars for the first time in his career. After playing exclusively in the outfield last season, McIntyre has started every game but one for BYU this year, either at left field, center field or designated hitter while also garnering five appearances in relief. In nine innings, McIntyre has allowed no earned runs with eight strikeouts with a 2-1 record.
