1981 BYU Hall of Fame
Five-foot-nine Terry Tebbs was a member of college basketball’s Associated Press little All-America team in both 1955 and 1956. Terry received First Team recognition in the 1956 selection, an honor well deserved.
An exciting ball handler and flawless shot, Terry scored over 500 points his senior year and set a new Smith Fieldhouse record with 12 field goals in one game vs. Denver. He scored 32 points that night. Terry finished his spectacular basketball career with 919 total points.
Terry was named most valuable player at the Motor City Classic in 1955, from which the Cougars emerged as tournament champions. He was also a member of the 1953 NIT team. At the conclusion of his senior year he was voted outstanding senior athlete at BYU.
Following college, Terry continued to compete in AAU and Church basketball, and was named MVP in the All-Church Tournament.
- Played in 10 games as a sophomore, averaging 3.3 ppg.
- Averaged 14.6 points and 4.2 rebounds for his junior season
- Named all-conference, all-district, and second-team Little All-America.
- Led Cougars in scoring with 19.5 per game on a team that finished second in the Skyline Conference
- Averaged 4.4 rebounds per game
