Born August 1966 in Salt Lake City... mother is Marian H. Schreiner... spent early years in Michigan... was an honor student at Brighton High School... named to the Coca-Cola Utah High School All-Academic Team... served a mission for LDS church to Japan... grandfather is the late Alexander Schreiner, famed Mormon Tabernacle organist... married Marne Nilsson in June 1989... majoring in pre-physical therapy.

Before BYU

Led his team to the state championship in 1984 and was the high scorer of the tournament... chosen state MVP by the Salt Lake Tribune... recruited by Dixie College, Ricks College, Utah Valley Community College and the University of Utah... coached by Duke Reid, who is now the head coach at UVCC.

Other College

Junior College: Attended Dixie College for one season... was the only freshman on the national championship team in 1985... was a sixth man... scored 21 points in a regional championship game against Northern Idaho... coached by Neil Roberts (BYU).

Academic All-WAC... third-leading scorer... was WAC Player of the Week against UTEP and New Mexico... high games was 24 points and 12 rebounds against San Diego State... tipped in a missed free throw at Tulsa to provide a last-second victory... was All-Cougar Classic... scored in double figures 17 times.

Senior Year 1990-1991

Scored 484 points... averaged 14.2 points per game overall and 16.9 in conference games... scored 37 points against Hawai'i... lead the team in scoring in 10 different games... All-WAC First Team.
