BISHOP GORMAN HIGH SCHOOL: Averaged 23.1 points per game, leading the state of Nevada, and 10.2 rebounds per game as a senior at Bishop Gorman High School ... joined the team in mid-December after being forced to sit out the first five games due to eligibility concerns ... led his team to the Sunset Southwest Division (11-1 record) and Sunset Las Vegas Zone titles while advancing to the semifinals of the Nevada State Tournament with a 28-5 overall record ... Summary
The 2007 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, Jonathan Tavernari followed a standout season in his first year with the Cougars with a record-setting sophomore campaign. He earned All-MWC Third Team honors and set the BYU single-season and sophomore MWC three-point record with 88 triples. Tavernari repeated as a third-team selection in 2009 and posted averages of 15.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. He helped the Cougars win back-to-back outright MWC titles in his first two seasons and a share of the title in his third season. As a senior, Tavernari thrived in his new role as sixth man. He averaged 10.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals and was named to the All-MWC Third Team and the MWC Sixth Man of the Year. He concluded his career as BYU's all-time leader in threes and games played, third in steals and 12th in points. He led the state of Nevada in scoring as a senior at Bishop Gorman High School at 23.1 points per game.
