Before BYU

Prepped at Green Valley High and was named the Gatorade Nevada High School Baseball Player of the Year...three-time all-league and all-division selection...was division MVP...selected prep All-American by three different organizations...batted .495 with nine homers and 30 stolen bases as a senior...also played basketball...coached by Roger Fairless...likes to play the guitar and was the lead singe of the Wooden Nickles band...selected to the All-Alaska and NBC All-America team last summer...played previous two years in the Cape Cod league.

Other College

Transferred from Stanford University...at the College World Series, the Cardinal placed third in 1997 and 1999 with Nick on the team...in 1999 he hit .312 and started 55 of the 59 games he played for the Pac-10 champions after recovering from off-season knee surgery...during that season he hit four homers, 15 doubles, had 63 hits and 41 RBI...was selected to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team in 1999 and was NCAA Region Most Outstanding Player...started in left field as a junior for the Cardinal...participated in the 1998 USA Baseball National Team Trials...drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 15th round of the June 1996 draft...started in right field and as a DH for Stanford as a sophomore and hit .323 with 22 RBI...had a nine-game hitting streak...played in 33 games as a freshman.
