Born in Payson, Utah to the parents of William and Rowene ...he is and Eagle Scout and served a Church mission to Santiago, Chile ... his entire family is athletic, including Scott, Chad, Amy and Emily ... member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee ... majoring in exercise science.

Before BYU

Prepped at Spanish Fork, where he was coached by Jim Nelson ... first team all-state in 1998 and first team all-region in 1997-98 ... awarded baseball MVP after stealing the school record in stolen bases ...he was also all-state in football ... even with all the individual awards, his biggest sports thrill came in 1998 when he played in the High School State Championship Game.

Other College

SOPHOMORE - (2002): Led UVSC in stolen bases with 41 combined swipes in 2002 and 1999, putting him third all-time at UVSC ... awarded the Student Athlete of the month for March of 2002.


FRESHMAN - (1999):Played at UVSC under Coach Steve Gardner.

Junior Year 2003

A walk-on who started 26-games and came off the bench in 14 more ... he batted .281 on the season and .297 in conference games ... committed only three errors at second base with a .977 fielding percentage ... ended fourth on the team after swiping seven bases on the year ... against conference foe Air Force, Vest batted 5-for-17 with six RBI, a double, a grand slam home run and two stolen bases in five games played ... provided some heroics in the second inning in Provo against SUU in an 18-1 victory, driving in Casey Cloward, who had doubled ... he then alertly scooted to a double on that play, then stole third and scored on the overthrow by the SUU catcher for a 5-0 advantage.
