Prepped at Sprague High where he was all-state and all-league pitcher and played in the state all-star game in 2006 ... team was state champions in 2005 and two-time league champion ... was also all-league as an outfielder in 2005 ... was a three-year starter and three-year letterman in baseball ... threw a one-walk no-hitter in spring of 2006 ... played on the Seattle Mariners Area Code team in 2005 ... in football he played for the 2004 state champions, was all-league as a linebacker in 2005, defensive player of the year for his league and region in 2005, two-time all state and played in the state all-star game ... made the honor roll all four years and was coached by Brian Champion.
