McComber, Hifo, Livingston earn WCC All-Academic honors
SAN MATEO, Calif. — Three BYU women’s volleyball student-athletes earned All-Academic honors, the West Coast Conference announced Thursday.
Aria McComber was named to the WCC All-Academic First Team, while Tayler Hifo and Erin Livingston were recognized as Honorable Mention citations.
McComber, an environmental science master's student, posted a 3.80 GPA while recording 157 digs last season. The senior libero from Kapolei, Hawai’i played in 32 matches, also tallying 16 service aces. Transferring to BYU from Washington State in 2021, McComber made the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll list in both 2019 and 2020.
Hifo, earned a 3.32 GPA as a political science major. The senior setter out of American Fork, Utah played in 27 matches last season, matching her career-high in service aces at four against both San Francisco and Portland. Hifo was also a conference All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2020.
Livingston, an outside hitter from Corona, California achieved a 3.48 GPA studying family life. The junior played in 25 matches, notching 241 kills throughout the year, the third-most for the Cougars last season. Recently training with the U.S. women's collegiate national team, this is Livingston's first conference academic honor.
The trio contributed to BYU’s 30-2 record and Sweet 16 finish in the NCAA Tournament last year. McComber and Livingston both return for the Cougars in the upcoming 2022 season, which begins with the BYU Invitational No. 1 on Aug. 26.
