Three Cougars receive AVCA All-American honors

PROVO, Utah – Graduate opposite hitter Kenzie Koerber, graduate middle blocker Kennedy Eschenberg and junior setter Whitney Bower of the BYU women's volleyball team were awarded AVCA All-America honors on Wednesday.

Koerber was named to the AVCA All-America Third Team. Both Eschenberg and Bower received AVCA All-America honorable mention.

This is Koerber’s fourth consecutive year being recognized as an All-American. Prior to joining the Cougars, she earned All-American honorable mention (2018) and All-American Second Team honors (2019, 2020/21) at the University of Utah. Koerber started in all 32 matches and participated in all 107 sets for the Cougars this season. She completed her final collegiate season by leading BYU in kills (364) and points (436). She was named WCC Player of the Year, named to the All-WCC First Team and received AVCA Pacific South All-Region honors.

A third-team All-American in 2021/21, Eschenberg dominated offensively and defensively for the Cougars this season. She led the team with 136 blocks and added 208 kills and 30 digs to her stat line. In her final collegiate season, she is a Senior CLASS award finalist, was named to the All-WCC First Team and received AVCA Pacific South All-Region honors.

WCC’s Setter of the Year, Bower, earned her second AVCA All-America honorable mention. She led the team with 1,094 assists and contributed to the team’s average hitting percentage of .410. She had 297 digs and earned her 12 double-doubles this season. Along with Koerber and Eschenberg, she was named to the All-WCC First Team and received AVCA Pacific South All-Region honors.
