Netters face Gonzaga and Portland
PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s tennis team continues conference play on the road as it takes on Gonzaga and Portland, Friday and Saturday, respectively.
"We had a couple weeks here which was nice," BYU coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. "We treat each match the same, whether it's a home match or on the road. The team has been practicing hard so that our matches will be easier. We're working on a few key things to help us close out our matches."
In their final home match of the season last Friday, the Cougars (5-12, 1-2 WCC) dropped a close 4-3 decision to then-No. 34 Saint Mary’s.
Freshman Meghan Sheehan-Dizon moved to 7-0 at home this season with her straight-set win over Jade Frampton of Saint Mary’s. Sheehan-Dizon leads the team with a 20-10 overall singles record and has a team-best 9-6 doubles record with senior Megan Price.
Gonzaga (7-5, 1-2 WCC) is led by Kylie Peek with a 13-8 overall singles record. The Bulldogs broke a three-match losing streak last weekend with a 5-2 win over Portland.
With a 4-3 loss to Idaho on April 1, the Pilots (4-11, 0-2 WCC) are on a six-match losing streak.
Anastasia Polyakova leads the team with a 12-8 overall singles record.
The Cougars take on Gonzaga at 10 a.m. PDT Friday before traveling to Portland for an 11 a.m. PDT match Saturday.
