PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s tennis team dropped its first West Coast Conference match of the season Monday, falling to No. 72 San Diego, 5-2, at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts.

“We not only hung with them, but we had our chances to take the match,” BYU coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. “We’ll use that in our matches going forward. We had our opportunities and I think we’ll get there and continue to improve. We just need to stay focused and keep going.”

The Toreros (4-7) took the doubles point, claiming two of the three doubles wins. BYU’s No. 1 duo of senior Megan Price and sophomore Desiree Tran won the lone doubles victory for the Cougars (4-10, 0-1 WCC), topping Juliette Coupez and Idil Haciraifoglu 8-5.
