Cougars take on Washington State and Idaho
PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s tennis team kicks off a month of away matches this weekend as it takes on the Washington State Cougars and the Idaho Vandals Friday and Saturday, respectively, in Washington.
Saturday the Cougars (2-3) narrowly dropped a 4-3 decision to Wisconsin.
Senior Megan Price and freshman Meghan Sheehan-Dizon lead the Cougars in singles, both with a 4-1 dual record. Price plays at the No. 2 position while Sheehan-Dizon sits at the No. 4 position. Sheehan-Dizon has won four consecutive matches.
With a 3-2 record during dual play, Price and Sheehan-Dizon team up to form the No. 1 doubles duo for BYU. After dropping the first two matches of the season, Price and Sheehan-Dizon are on a three match winning streak.
Washington State (8-2) is coming off a 5-2 victory over Miami (Oh). The last meeting between Washington State and BYU came in Feb. 2011 when Washington State topped BYU, 5-2. Washington State boasts No. 115 singles player Elisabeth Fornier and the No. 60 doubles duo of Liudmila Vasilieya and Elizaveta Luzina.
The Vandals (7-4) are coming off a 5-2 loss to No. 63 Wyoming. This is the first meeting between BYU and Idaho.
Both Friday and Saturday’s matches begin at noon at The Simmelink Courts.
