Doubles Duo Reaches Quarterfinals of Regionals
LAS VEGAS – Megan Price and Meghan Sheehan-Dizon gear up to compete in the quarterfinals of the ITA Mountain Region Championships after defeating the No. 8 seed Friday in Las Vegas.
Senior Price and freshman Sheehan-Dizon challenged No. 8 Sophia Bergner and Elena Najera Salas of Denver in the round of 16 before advancing to the quarterfinals. The BYU duo dropped only two games in the match.
Freshman Morgan Anderson and junior Aubrey Paul also competed against seeded opponents in the round of 16 for the Cougars. The pair narrowly fell to the No. 3 seeded duo of Veronica Popovici and Simona Synkova of Wyoming.
Price and Sheehan-Dizon will face Popovici and Synkova Saturday at 9 a.m.
More than 120 women’s collegiate tennis players from 19 schools are showcasing their talent during the ITA Mountain Region Championships. The singles and doubles champions will advance to the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships Nov. 3 – 6 in Flushing, N.Y.
