Netters Play Home Opener Against Washington

PROVO -- The No. 73 BYU women’s tennis team is gearing up to take on No. 23 Washington Saturday at 11 a.m. at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts.

BYU is coming off a strong finish in the Memphis Winter Invitational, with nine singles wins and six doubles wins.

Team captain Megan Price received MWC honors for her two singles and three doubles victories. Freshman Callie Craig went undefeated with three singles wins and three doubles wins. Together, the No. 53 duo defeated No. 22 Kristi Boxx and Abby Guthrie of Ole Miss. Price also defeated No. 51 Kaitlyn Ritchie and Mallory Weber of Mizzou with Elle Carney.

Washington last played in the Michigan Invitational, which ended Tuesday, posting six singles wins and three doubles wins. Washington has two nationally ranked players, No. 6 junior Denise Dy and No. 55 senior Venise Chan.

The BYU Indoor Tennis Courts are located south of the Smith Fieldhouse. Spectators may park in the “Y Lot” parking lots northwest and southwest of the indoor courts.
