Athens, GA (May 26,2010) Competing in her first ever NCAA Women’s Tennis Singles Championships, BYU’s No. 38 ranked McCall Jones played well, but fell to USC’s No. 3 ranked Maria Sanchez, Wednesday.

Jones, a sophomore from Orange County, Calif., and Tesoro High School, dropped her match in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.

“This was a really good experience for me to play in such a prestigious tournament and I want to be able to compete in it again my next two seasons,” said Jones. “I struggled today, and couldn’t get anything going in the right direction.”

Jones concludes the 2009-10 campaign with a 30-8 overall record. She played the number one singles position for the Cougars where she compiled an impressive

17-3 singles record in dual matches. Last month she garnered the Mountain West Conference’s highest honor, being named MWC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year.
