Rough Road Trip for BYU
GAINESVILLE -- Monday’s early morning, rain-delayed contest between the No. 67 BYU women’s tennis team and No. 22 SMU concluded the ITA Indoor Qualifying Tournament. The Mustangs came out on the winning end of the 4-1 consolation match.
SMU took the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. No. 18 McCall Jones and Megan Price were tied with their opponents at seven-all on court one when the match was called.
The Mustangs captured the first singles match in straight sets at the No. 5 spot. Romina Nedakovic was the only Cougar able to notch a win—a 7-5, 6-1 victory on court six. SMU won the two more matches necessary to secure the victory. With the loss, BYU fell to 1-3 on the season.
Play will continue Thursday for the Cougars when they take on No. 75 Wichita State at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts.
