Gators Advance in Tournament, Defeat Cougars 4-0

GAINESVILLE -- The No. 67 BYU women’s tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss at the hands of No. 8 Florida on Friday afternoon. With the loss the Cougars fall to 1-2 on the season.

The Gators won the doubles point with victories on courts one and three, despite a close 5-4 unfinished contest on court two between Kristina Doerr and Romina Nedakovic and Florida’s Lauren Embree and Anastasia Revzina.

In singles, Revzina secured the first point after defeating junior Liza Ezhova, 6-1, 6-2 to give Florida a 2-0 lead. Cougars Chie Hayasaka and Megan Price also suffered losses on courts three and five, respectively, clinching the match for the Gators. Doerr, Nedakovic and McCall Jones’ matches were all abandoned once the match result was set.

The Cougars will prepare to face SMU, who dropped a 4-2 contest to Florida International, on Saturday at 10 a.m. ET in the Ring Tennis Complex.
