LAS -- At the close of the ITA Region Championships, the BYU women’s tennis team proved it was a contender in the Mountain Region. Senior Kristina Doerr advanced to the final four in singles while McCall Jones and Megan Price played their way into the doubles final.

Doerr had strong performances throughout the tournament and made it to the semifinal round of the draw where she faced UNLV’s Kristina Nedeltcheva. The Rebel senior notched a straight-set win to end Doerr’s chance of advancing.

Sophomore tandem Jones and Price continued to impress at the tournament. The duo made it to the final round, but was forced to default because of the no Sunday play rule. Instead, Boise State’s Lauren Megale and Pichittra Thongdach were given the title.

Because of time and other circumstances, the singles and doubles consolation draws were not completed.

The region tournament concluded the team’s fall schedule. The women’s tennis team will be back in action in January to start the regular season.
