PROVO -- This week’s ITA Mountain Region Championships in Las Vegas will give the BYU women’s tennis team a taste of the upcoming season. Twenty-one schools will compete at the five-day tournament, including three teams the Cougars will face during the regular season and seven conference opponents.

BYU will send eight players into the singles draw and four pairs into doubles competition. McCall Jones and Megan Price, who are coming off an impressive performance at last week’s ITA All-American Championships, are the No.1 seed in doubles. The Cougars also have three players seeded in the top 10 in singles.

The team has traditionally competed well in the region, but this will be the first regional competition since the ITA realigned the region boundaries. The newly formed Mountain Region includes six universities that were formerly in the Central Region with the Cougars.

Play begins Wednesday and continues through Saturday at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas. For draws and updated scores, click here.
