PROVO -- BYU will welcome opponents from six local schools this weekend as the women’s tennis team hosts the annual BYU Invitational to start the fall season. The No. 64 Cougars will face players from Wyoming, Colorado State, Utah State, Weber State and Utah in the three-day tournament.

The Cougars will have the chance to win the singles draw for the third consecutive year. Former champions Kristina Doerr and McCall Jones will both have the opportunity to reclaim the title.

Also competing are returning players Chie Hayasaka, Liza Ezhova, Elle Carney, Megan Price, and Romina Nedakovic. Spectators and opponents will get their first glimpse of new freshman Aubrey Paul.

Play begins at 9 a.m. Thursday at the BYU Outdoor Tennis Courts. Admission is free and all matches are open to the public. The courts are located south of South Field and the entrance is on the east side.
