Megan Price Named MWC Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS -- The Mountain West Conference announced that BYU freshman Megan Price received conference player of the week honors for her stellar performance in the team’s three road matches. Also awarded was TCU freshman Slah Mbarek on the men’s side.
Price, a Castle Hill, Australia native went a combined 6-0 in singles and doubles in No. 61 BYU’s wins over Kansas State (7-0), Kansas (4-3) and No. 73 Oklahoma State (6-1) last week. Playing at the No. 5 singles position, Price defeated Kansas State’s Katarina Kudlackova (6-3, 6-2) and Kansas’ Maria Martinez (6-4, 6-3) in straight sets. She also beat 73rd-ranked Oklahoma State’s Sasha Belova (7-5, 6-1) at No. 4 singles.
In doubles, Price teamed with Romina Nedakovic at the No. 2 position to defeat Kansas State’s Vanessa Cottin and Mariya Supska (8-4), Kansas’ Yuliana Svistun and Kunigunga Dorn (8-4), and Oklahoma State’s JoAnne Karaitiana and Sasha Belova (8-3).
