Midwest Foes Loom for BYU
PROVO -- A trip to the Midwest will bring stiff competition for the No. 43 women’s tennis team this weekend. The Cougars (2-2) will play No. 14 Arkansas Friday before heading to No. 71 Wichita State Saturday.
Arkansas is 3-1 on the season after losing to No. 17 Notre Dame last week. The Razorbacks lone point came from senior Aurelija Miseviciute, who is currently the No. 2 singles player in the country. Arkansas also has a player ranked No. 33 and the No. 8 doubles team.
The Cougars and Razorbacks met last season with Arkansas claiming the 5-2 victory. BYU earned its two points after winning two of three doubles matches and a three-set victory by Liza Ezhova.
Saturday will bring BYU head-to-head with Wichita State for the first time in the team’s history. The Shockers are 2-0 on the season after back-to-back sweeps last weekend.
Friday’s match against Arkansas begins at 5 p.m. CT and Saturday’s match starts at 6 p.m. CT.
