FRESNO -- The No. 37-ranked BYU women's tennis team dropped its second match in as many days after falling 6-1 to No. 16 Fresno State on Saturday. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 8-8 on the season.

The Bulldogs were quick to claim the doubles point as both No. 35 Jennifer Miccoli and Anastasia Surkova, and No. 60 Dolly Chang and Kristina Doerr, fell at on courts one and two, respectively. The duo of Elle Carney and Chie Hayasaka pulled out an 8-5 win at the third position, defeating Danon Beatty and Vanessa Heroux 8-5.

In singles play, No. 86 Surkova was the first to fall in straight sets to No. 2 Anastasia Petukhova. Hayasaka and No. 80 Doerr soon followed with losses of their own, clinching the win for Fresno State.

Both Chang and Carney dropped the following two matches, while Elizaveta Ezhova recorded the Cougars' lone point of the day. Playing on court six, the freshman pulled out a tough 7-5, 7-5 win over Bruna Paes.

The Cougars return home as they prepare to kick off conference play when UNLV and San Diego State visit Provo next weekend. The weekend also marks the team's last home matches of the season.
