Semifinal Round of the MWC Championships - BYU Over UNLV 4-0

SAN DIEGO -- For its second consecutive season, the 22nd-ranked BYU women's tennis team (21-5, 8-1) advances to the championship round of the Mountain West Conference tournament after posting a strong 4-0 win over UNLV today in the semifinal round.

The Cougars won the doubles point as Barbora Zahnova and Sofia Holden defeated UNLV's Angeiszka Abram and Anne Claire Ortiz-Luiz at the No. 1 doubles spot and Olga Boulytcheva and Lu Oswald controlled their rebel opponents posting an 8-1 win to clinch the point for BYU.

In singles play, Zahnova, Rebecca Pike and Hadley MacFarlane each earned wins for the Cougars sealing the match at a 4-0 win.

The BYU women will take on the ladies of New Mexico in the final round of the championship Saturday at Noon in the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
