Women's Tennis to Play in Colorado Invitational

PROVO -- The BYU women's tennis team will be traveling to Colorado to participate in the Colorado Invitational this week. The invitational is hosted by the University of Colorado and will go from Thursday through Saturday.

Competing along with BYU in the tournament will be Colorado, Denver, and MWC opponents Colorado State and New Mexico. Head coach Craig Manning said he likes preseason tournaments because they help the team know where they are playing well and where they need to improve.

"The key this early in the season is to play matches, a lot of matches," Manning said. "This tournament will give us a good chance to play some quality tennis against some good teams. We also get to see and play against teams from our conference that we will see later in the year."

After last weeks success at the BYU Invitational, Manning said he thinks his team will play even better this week.

"Everyone is so nervous in the first tournament of the year, so last week gave us a good opportunity to get the jitters out," he said.

The format will be four singles draws (eight per draw) and two doubles draws with eight per draw. Each day will start at 9 a.m. at the Kittredge Tennis Courts on the campus of the University of Colorado. In case of inclement weather, no alternative facility has been named.
