Richardson and Ferney Lose in the Finals at ITA Regional Championships
PROVO -- The doubles team of Jodi Richardson and Brooke Ferney defeated four teams, including the No. seeded team, on the way to the final match at the ITA Central Regional Championships in Omaha, Nebraska on November 1-4. They lost to No. 3 seed Jennifer DeSpain and Jana Sedivec, 8-1.
Also in doubles, Liza Khoudoiarova and Dominique Reynolds advanced to the semifinal round before falling to the No. 2 seeded Novotna and Sedimajerova of Kansas State, 8-4. In singles, Reynolds defeated the No. 12 seed, Karoline Graubig, of Colorado, 6-4, 6-3, before losing to eventual finalist Maria Phillips-Galoustova, 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. Ferney advanced to the round of 16 before losing to the other eventual finalist, Lenka Zacharova, of Weber State, 6-2, 6-0.
Lu Oswald advanced to the semifinal round by defeating the No. 5 seed and two other players before losing to the No. 1 seeded Katarina Balan, of Nebraska, 6-3, 6-4.
The ITA Regionals concludes the fall tournament season for the women's team. They will begin the spring duals action on January 12 and 13 at BYU.
