Cougars Fall In Close One, 4-3

Seattle, Wash.- The No. 44 ranked BYU women's tennis team lost to No. 54 ranked Washington State University, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon in Seattle, Washington.

BYU, 6-5 on the season, started the match by losing the doubles point, as the No. 22 ranked doubles team of Jodi Richardson and Brooke Ferney lost to Tamara Philipovic and Erica Perkins, 8-4. BYU's Dominique Reynolds and Liza Khoudoiarova defeated Lorena Arias and Monick Vandeven, 8-6.

In singles, Richardson, ranked No. 42 in the nation, lost to Erica Perkins, ranked No. 41 in the nation, 6-4, 6-1. The Cougars won at the three, four and six spots with Reynolds, Lu Oswald and Khoudoiarova each defeating their opponent.

Washington State was the first match of a two-match road trip. The Cougars were supposed to play Washington on Friday, before the Washington State match on Saturday, but due to the earthquake in Seattle during the week, that match was postponed until Monday afternoon.
