Cougars To Host Rival Utah
After being on the road since early February, the BYU women's tennis team will return home to host the final three matches of the season, starting when Utah comes to Provo on Saturday.
The Cougars, 10-7 overall and 4-0 in the conference, are coming off a road trip where they won two of three matches, their only loss coming at the hands of No. 1 Stanford. Both victories were over Mountain West Conference foes including defending champion UNLV, 4-3. The Cougars also defeated San Diego State, 4-3.
"We've been playing some clutch tennis on the road," said BYU coach Craig Manning. "We've been playing well as a team."
Dominique Reynolds and Lu Oswald were particularly hot for the Cougars, winning two of their three matches over the weekend. Reynolds. last week's MWC palyer of the week, played at the two spot, losing only to 8th-ranked Lauren Kalvaria. Oswald defeated Katja Karrento of San Diego State and Urska Radanovic of UNLV at the four spot.
Utah is 3-3 over the last six matches. They own conference wins over Colorado State and Air Force. Last week in Las Vegas, Utah lost to No. 60 UNLV, 6-1 and were swept by No. 54 San Diego State, 7-0.
After Utah, BYU will host Wyoming and Fresno State on April 13 and 14 to close out the regular season.
Utah will host its final two matches of the season at the Eccles Tennis Center on April 13 and 14 against No. 10 Fresno State at 2 p.m. and Wyoming at 11 a.m.
