PROVO, Utah – BYU women's tennis senior captain Emilee Astle has enjoyed her tennis career with the Cougars and looks forward to her final season with the program in 2023-2024.

Her Love For Tennis

"I have loved tennis ever since I started playing! It’s an all-around game that challenges not only your physical strength but also your mental and emotional strength," said Astle. "Most importantly I love the friendships and relationships I have built with my teammates and coaches."

Friendships

"I’m close to all the girls on the team," said Astle. "We have such good unity within the program and it’s so much fun being around my best friends every day!"

Journey to BYU

"I’ve always wanted to come to BYU," said Astle. "My parents went to BYU, and I grew up a huge fan of all BYU athletics. It’s always been my dream, and I’m so happy that I have the opportunity to play here."

Idol

"I have always looked up to my two older sisters," said Astle. "They are some of my biggest supporters and I love them so much. I admire their strength, their optimism and their selflessness."

For Fun

"I’m not sure I have a favorite music artist but I love country music," said Astle. "In my free time, I like to play all kinds of sports, go hiking, boating, play with my nieces and nephews, read, travel, and play the piano and guitar!"

Favorite Memory from the 2022-23 Season

"I have so many fun memories from this season," said Astle. "My favorites were going to Fall nationals with Bobo (Huang), beating Utah 4-0 and defeating the #1 doubles team (Pepperdine) in the country with Jacque (Dunyon)!

Astle's leadership and success on the court has provided a boost and momentum that the team will look to carry into the fall.
