Astle, Jiao, and Wheatley named Academic All-District

Astle, Jiao, and Wheatley named Academic All-District

PROVO, Utah – College Sports Communicators (CSC) named Emilee Astle, Helen Jiao and Kara Wheatley to the CSC Academic All-District women's tennis team today for their academic and athletic accomplishments this season. 

"We put a lot of emphasis on academics and encourage the girls to excel in the classroom," said head coach Holly Hasler. "I’m proud of these ladies, I know it was not easy, and took a great deal of effort to manage grades along with travel and competitions."

Emilee Astle

Astle this season was a team captain, recorded an 8-12 record in singles, 10-8 in doubles and has a 3.75 cumulative GPA. Her 10 doubles wins tied her for fourth on the team. The Sandy, Utah native is studying exercise science and plans to graduate next year. Astle played in the No. 1 spot for doubles during the season and was No. 2 singles in every lineup. 

Helen Jiao

Jiao in her final season with BYU, posted a 6-6 record in singles, 10-3 in doubles and has a 3.56 cumulative GPA. Jiao is currently pursuing a master's degree in accounting and will graduate next year. 

Kara Wheatley

Wheatley went 4-5 in singles this season, 12-5 in doubles and has a cumulative 3.78 GPA. Wheatley's 12 doubles wins ranked second on the team. The Hong Kong, China native is studying global supply chain management and has the highest GPA in the program.
