BYU defeats St. Mary's 4-2 in regular season finale

MORAGA, Calif. – BYU women's tennis defeated St. Mary's 4-2 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Cougars improved to 12-8 on the season, 6-3 in conference play and 6-4 on the road. 

Doubles

  1. Harris/Hovda (SMC) def. Astle/Dunyon 6-4
  2. Huang/Li (BYU) def. Khan/Rook 6-2
  3. Jiao/Wheatley (BYU) def. Dong/Silva 6-3

      Order of finish: 2, 1, 3

The win for Jiao and Wheatley secured the doubles point for the Cougars. 

Singles

  1. Bobo Huang (BYU) def. Jordan Harris 6-3, 6-2
  2. Lene Mari Hovda (SMC) def. Emilee Astle 6-2, 7-5
  3. Tina Li (BYU) def. Olivia Rook 6-4, 6-4
  4. Iman Khan (SMC) def. Jacque Dunyon 7-6, 6-3
  5. Helen Jiao (BYU) UF. Tian Yu Dong 6-7, 6-5
  6. Emmie Moore (BYU) def. Stefanie Silva 7-6, 7-5

      Order of finish: 1, 2, 4, 3, 6

Huang, at No. 1, defeated Harris in two sets for her 14th singles win of the season (14-4). 

Astle, at No. 2, was defeated by Hovda in two sets and fell to 8-11 on the year in singles.

Dunyon, at No. 4, fell to for just her fourth singles loss of the season. (12-4). 

Li, at No. 3, defeated Rook for her 14th singles victory of the year (14-6). 

Moore, at No. 6, was victorious against Silva, improving her singles record to 12-4 on the season and clinched the overall match win for BYU.

Jiao's match at No. 5 was left unfinished. 

The Cougars return to action next week for the West Coast Conference tournament in San Diego, California, which will begin Thursday, April 27.
