SAN MATEO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has selected BYU women's tennis to finish sixth in the 2020-21 WCC Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Cougars earned 42 points, just eight points shy of projected fifth place finisher Gonzaga. Pepperdine earned the top spot with 76 points and eight first place votes. The Waves are ranked No. 5 nationally, trailing only North Carolina, UCLA, Texas and Stanford.

BYU was also picked to finish sixth last season, but the COVID-shortened season was cancelled before conference play began. The Cougars finished sixth in conference in 2018-19.

WCC play for BYU starts on Friday, Mar. 19 when the Cougars host the Portland Pilots. BYU will play four conference foes in Provo and will play the remaining five conference matches on the road.

There will be no WCC Tournament, as previously announced earlier this year. The NCAA Championships are scheduled for May 20-29, 2021.
