LAS VEGAS – The BYU women’s tennis team took four wins in their last match day of the ITA regional championships on Saturday.

“We fell a little short in where we would've liked to finish in singles and doubles,” said BYU head coach Holly Parkinson Hasler. "Newcomers Leah and Helen proved themselves to be tough competitors in singles. We've had a few setbacks, but it's back to work on Monday."

Freshman Helen Jiao had an impressive run at the ITA regional championships, battling her way to the semifinals. On her final match, she took the win by default and advanced to the finals of Flight B, but won’t compete because of BYU’s policy to refrain from Sunday play.

In other singles matches, Kate Cusick Truman beat New Mexico’s Danielle Quevedo 6-4, 7-6. Morgan Hall also won her match against UNLV’s Rachel Lee 6-2, 6-4, and Madeline Almeida won in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 against Northern Arizona’s Mimi Bland. Leah Heimuli lost her match against Weber State’s Ana Morett 3-6, 3-6.
