Fall Tennis Season Begins at Cal Fall Invitational
PROVO, Utah – The fall 2018-19 season for the BYU women’s tennis team opens up this weekend at the Cal Fall Invitational in Berkeley, Calif., Sept. 28-29.
Senior Taylah Beckman; juniors Kate Cusick, Katie Fitt, Polina Malykh and Samantha Smith; and sophomores Anastasia Abramyan, Madeline Almeida and Hermehr Kaur will participate in the tournament.
“We pushed the girls hard over the last three weeks with a unified goal of achieving greatness,” BYU head coach Holly Parkinson Hasler said. “I believe each of them is anxious and excited to test themselves as they hit the ground running.”
Matches at the Cal Fall Invitational will take place on outdoor courts at the Hellman Tennis Complex on Cal Berkeley’s campus and at the Channing Tennis Courts, another tennis facility south of Cal’s campus.
The six courts at Hellman have a live video stream.
Last year, Kaur and Almeida made it to the quarterfinals of the ITA Gold Singles. In the ITA Blue Doubles, Cusick and Abramyan advanced to the quarterfinals. In the ITA Gold Doubles, Beckman and Kaur also made it into the quarterfinals. This is the tenth consecutive year that the Cougars have participated in the invitational held at Cal.
