Seven Cougars Named to WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Seven BYU women’s tennis student-athletes received West Coast Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition for their academic performance in the 2017-18 school year, the league announced Thursday.

Polina Malykh received Gold Honors (4.00-3.75) and Hermehr Kaur received Silver Honors (3.74-3.50). In addition, Taylah Beckman, Madeline Almeida, Mayci Jones, Kate Cusick, and Samantha Smith received Bronze Honors (3.49-3.00).

Beckman, Cusick and Smith are all repeat recipients of this honor, placing on the list in the 2016-17 season as well.

Over 1,000 WCC student-athletes earned a spot on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the seventh consecutive year. More than 1,430 student-athletes qualified to receive recognition, establishing a conference record for the fifth consecutive season.

To be considered for the honor, student-athletes must meet three criteria: earn a varsity letter in the school year, maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), and complete an average of at least 12 graded credit hours per term.

The conference recognizes student-athletes in three separate categories:

 

  • 4.00-3.75 - Gold Honors

  • 3.74-3.50 - Silver Honors

  • 3.49-3.00 - Bronze Honors
