Jones, Miclat and Poulsen earn All-WCC honors

PROVO, Utah – The West Coast Conference today announced that Mayci Jones, Toby Miclat and Nicolette Poulsen of BYU women's tennis earned All-Conference honors Wednesday.

Jones, a junior from Coto de Caza, California, received All-WCC Second Team Singles honors after going 2-4 in WCC play at the No. 1 spot for the Cougars. Jones’ most notable win came against Loyola Marymount when she defeated Jessica Perez in a three-set thriller 3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) to clinch the match for BYU in a 4-3 victory.

Poulsen, a senior out of Lake Elsinore, California, was also recognized in singles play and received WCC Singles Honorable Mention. Poulsen played No. 2 and No. 3 singles for BYU this season, going 4-4 in WCC play and 11-11 overall.

Jones was also chosen as a WCC Doubles Honorable Mention honoree with doubles partner junior Toby Miclat, of Claremont, California. The duo held a 2-2 record in WCC play and went 7-4 overall while being honored as the WCC Doubles Players of the Week for Feb. 9-15.

The Cougars (6-15, 4-5 WCC) are seeded fifth in the WCC tournament and take on the No. 4 seed, Santa Clara (12-9, 5-4 WCC), Thursday at 1 p.m. PDT, in Claremont, California.
