No. 74 Cougars close out season

PROVO, Utah – No. 74 BYU women’s tennis closed out a season that saw them ranked nationally as a team for the duration of the year after a quarterfinal loss in the West coast Conference Tournament.

The Cougars (10-18, 3-6) recorded two wins over ranked opponents when they beat New Mexico and Houston, both ranked No. 37 at the time of the matches. BYU finished fifth in the WCC but fell to No. 37 Saint Mary’s, the No. 4 seed, in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Sophomore Savannah Ware was a bright spot for the Cougars on the season, going 17-4 overall and 7-2 in WCC play. Sophomore Toby Miclat recorded 15 victories in singles play for BYU and senior Morgan Anderson-Littlewood rounded out the Cougar trio of double-digit singles wins with 13.

BYU will only lose Meghan Sheehan-Dizon and Morgan Anderson-Littlewood, both to graduation, heading into next season. The Cougars will be optimistic heading into next year with a talented and experienced group.
