LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 60 BYU women’s tennis dropped a road match 7-0 at No. 41 Long Beach State Friday in its final non-conference game of the regular season.

The Beach (15-5) got up early on the Cougars (9-12, 4-4 West Coast Conference) after winning the doubles point. BYU’s Brittanie Eraso and Nicolette Tran teamed up at No. 1 doubles but fell 6-4. Erica Valimaki and Demi Daniels lost their matchup at No. 2 doubles 6-1.

Long Beach maintained its momentum heading into singles and took the first five matchups in straight sets. Tran played her first match at No. 1 singles this season but came up short, losing to Maeva Razakasoa 6-4, 6-3. Valimaki also played in the highest position she has played all season at No. 2 singles. She lost the first set 6-0 but battled back in the second and barely lost 7-6 (7-1).

Freshman Katie Fitt played at No. 3 singles against Julie Gerard but dropped the matchup 6-1, 6-4. Eraso and Daniels rounded out the Cougar lineup but both fell to their opponents at No. 4 and 5 singles, respectively. Eraso lost 6-0, 6-0 and Daniels ended up on the losing end of a 6-2, 6-0 match.

The Cougars are back in action Saturday at San Diego for their final West Coast Conference match of the season before the conference tournament next week. Live updates are available through the schedule page.
