STOCKTON, Calif. – Senior Morgan Anderson-Littlewood led No. 38 BYU women’s tennis in a 4-3 losing effort Saturday at Pacific.

“Today was disappointing,” BYU head coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. “We were able to pull out the doubles point but we didn’t want it enough in singles. We had opportunities but didn’t have enough heart and Pacific wanted it more. We are going to work harder this week and bounce back.”

The Cougars got on the board first by pulling out the doubles point. Anderson-Littlewood teamed up with Meghan Sheehan-Dizon to beat Pacific’s Regina Suarez and Antonella Santeusanio 6-4. Savannah Ware and Nicolette Tran secured the doubles point with a win of their own at No. 2 doubles against the Tiger’s duo Gergana Boncheva and Christiana Ferrari 6-3.

Pacific grabbed the momentum of the match when singles began winning at Nos. 1-3 in straight sets to take a 3-1 lead. Iveta Masarova defeated Sheehan-Dizon 6-3, 6-4, Hana Ritterova beat Tran 7-6(7-5), 6-3 and Ferrari outplayed Ware to a 7-6 (7-1), 6-4 win.

Toby Miclat and Anderson-Littlewood evened the score at three with victories at No. 4 and 5 singles, respectively. Miclat won quickly over Francis Dean 6-3, 6-1 while Anderson-Littlewood beat Boncheva in three sets, 1-6, 7-5, 7-6. The Tigers clinched the match when Santeusanio beat Erica Valimaki 7-6, 6-4.

BYU returns home for a conference matchup with LMU on Friday and will battle Oregon Saturday. Live video and stats will be available through the BYU women’s schedule page.
