TEMPE, Ariz. – Savannah Ware continued her stellar play but No. 65 BYU women’s tennis fell 6-1 at No. 29 Arizona State on Saturday in Tempe.

“Savannah really played well in both singles and doubles today. She had a great weekend,” BYU head coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. “We came out better today in doubles and had opportunities to take the doubles point. In singles we did not play our best and lacked the confidence we needed.”

Ware was the only Cougar to win her singles match, beating Ebony Panaho 6-3, 6-0, and teamed up with Nicolette Tran to take the first doubles matchup for BYU, beating Joanna Smith and Kassidy Jump 6-2. With the doubles score knotted at 1-1, Mayci Jones and Toby Miclat forced the No. 42-ranked duo of Desirae Krawczyk and Stephanie Vlad to a tiebreaker but fell 7-6.

The Cougars return home for a their first West Coast Conference matchup of the season with Portland on Friday at 10 a.m. MST. Live stats and video will be available through the women’s tennis schedule page
