Jones and Miclat win first-round match in All-American

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Sophomores Mayci Jones and Toby Miclat won in a third-set tiebreaker Tuesday in the doubles event of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, beating Kenna Kilgo and Lynn Kiro of Texas Tech (3-6, 7-6 (4), 16-14).

“The girls got off to a slow start but we were able to stay tough in the end and pull out the win,” BYU head coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. “It was a solid first-round win. The team they played was tough.”

The Cougars continue in the tournament Wednesday in the second round. With a win in the second round, they would also play their third round match Wednesday.

While Jones and Miclat compete in their tournament the rest of the Cougar squad prepares for the Utah State Invite later this week. The tournament will be in Logan, Utah Oct. 3-4.
