Comeback bid falls short against Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash.--In an outcome determined by the last match of the day, BYU women’s tennis fell to Washington State in a 4-3 heartbreaker on the road, Friday.
BYU (0-3) fell to WSU (6-1) in its third road match of the season.
Washington State took the doubles point and the next two singles matches to put BYU in a 3-0 hole. The netters responded by answering with three consecutive singles victories.
Junior Meghan Sheehan-Dizon sparked the rally by defeating Lize Leenknecht in a hard-fought three sets, 7-6 (7), 2-6, 1-0 (10-8). Sophomore Nicolette Tran came away with the victory over Olga Musilovich also in three sets, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (10-8).
After falling in the first set, freshman Toby Miclat knotted the match with her three-set win in tiebreakers over Dajana Ognjenovic, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).
The momentum stopped for BYU as freshman Savannah Ware fell 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 6 singles spot against Charlotte Koning, ending the match.
The Cougars are on the road again tomorrow when they take on Boise State at 10 a.m. MST. Live scoring will be available on the Boise State athletics website.
