BYU women’s tennis on the road at No. 41 Washington

PROVO, Utah--In its second match against a ranked opponent, BYU women’s tennis travels to Seattle to take on No. 41 Washington Friday at 1:30 p.m. PST.
 
“It will be a great match for us,” BYU head coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. “We’re looking forward to the opportunity to play another great team.”
 
The Cougars (0-1) face their second ranked opponent in as many matches when they take on the Huskies (3-1). 
 
In the first match of the season, BYU fell to No. 28 Tulsa, 7-0. Three freshmen saw action in the match with Mayci Jones falling in first singles,6-3, 6-0, while Savannah Ware also was defeated, 6-4, 6-2. Toby Miclat took the first set of her match, 7-5, before the momentum changed, losing the next two, 6-2, 1-0(10-4).
 
The Cougars will be on the road for the next two matches as well, when they challenge Washington State and Boise State, Feb. 7 and 8, respectively. The home opener will be against No. 54 Denver Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. MST.
