Anderson, Jones, survive second round at ITA Regionals

LAS VEGAS--Despite the rain delay, BYU women's tennis advanced with two singles players and one doubles team to move on in the USTA/ITA Mountain Regional Championships Thursday.
 
Junior Morgan Anderson highlights the group of players that advanced, qualifying for the next round in singles and doubles. She teamed up with freshman Savannah Ware, defeating Morgan Basil and Sandy Vo of Boise State, 8-6. 
 
Anderson also advanced in the singles tournament with a win over Utah State's McKenzie Davis. After falling in the first set 6-7, the BYU junior won the next two sets, 6-4, 6-4, to clinch the match. 
 
Freshman Mayci Jones also advanced in singles with a dominating victory over Agata Bachanek of Weber State, 6-1, 6-0.
 
In other singles action freshman Toby Miclat lost to Michelle Okhremchuk of Nevada, 6-2, 6-3, while fellow freshman Demi Daniels also lost her match against No. 32 Aleksandra Josifoska of UNLV, 6-0, 6-2.
Sophomore Mackenna Maddox lost to New Mexico's Natasha Smith in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.
 
In other doubles action the team of Jones and Miclat fell in a close match to Colorado's Winde Janssens and Nuria Ormeno, 8-6. 
 
Competition continues as two rounds of singles and one round of doubles will be played on Friday.
