INDIANAPOLIS — BYU women’s golf was selected by the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee to compete in the Franklin Regional of the 2022 NCAA Women's Golf Championships, May 9-11.

“We are really excited to have qualified for the Franklin Regional and I am so proud of these girls for this achievement,” said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts. “We have played good golf in Tennessee and won in Knoxville early this season. It gives us an opportunity to play good golf and advance to the national championship. It’s time to get to work so we can give it our best effort in a couple of weeks.”

The Franklin Regional will be played at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee and will be hosted by Vanderbilt University. The 6,449-yard course was the host of the 2012 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship and will provide a strong test to determine who will advance to the 2022 championship later in May.

At the Franklin Regional the Cougars will take on Wake Forest, Alabama, Texas A&M, Duke, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Kent State, UTSA, Augusta, Boston and Austin Peay.

There were 72 teams and 36 individual participants selected on Wednesday to compete in the six regionals around the country. Of the 396 participating players, 132 will advance to the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship on May 20-25.

The top four teams and top two individuals (not on an advancing team) will advance from each regional to Scottsdale, Arizona, to compete for the national championship.

BYU has put together a strong resume this season, tallying three wins at the Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico (Sep 13-14), the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in Knoxville, Tennessee (Sep 20-21) and the Texas State Invitational in Kyle, Texas (Feb 7-8).

The Cougars notched a runner-up finish at the WCC Championship in Henderson, Nevada, last week that included a runner-up finish from senior Annick Haczkiewicz.
