2011 Fall, 2012 Conference Schedules Announced

PROVO, Utah - BYU head coach Gordon Eakin and the 2012 Cougar softball team announced the 2011 fall schedule in addition to most of the 2012 regular season schedule, including its Western Athletic Conference games.

BYU will begin its inaugural season in the WAC with a homestand against WAC defending champion New Mexico State on Mar. 23-24 with a game on Friday at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.

The Cougars will also welcome Hawai'i, Utah State and San Jose State to Provo while traveling on the road to play at Fresno State, Louisiana Tech and Nevada. 

After closing out the regular season in Reno, BYU will participate in the WAC Tournament starting May 10 in Las Cruces, N.M.

BYU also knows who it will play in two preseason California tournaments. In San Diego, the Cougars will face former Mountain West Conference rival San Diego State on Thursday, Mar. 1, at 7 p.m. PT. The following day, BYU will go up against Cal State Northridge and St. Joseph's before facing Long Beach State and Charlotte on Saturday.

Two weeks later, Mar. 15-17, BYU will participate in one of the premiere tournaments in the country, the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif. On Thursday, Mar. 15, BYU opens with a contest against the Big 10's Purdue and the Pac-12's Arizona State. On Friday, the Cougars play UC Davis and Arizona, then close out the tournament on Saturday, Mar. 17, with a St. Patrick's Day game against Penn State.

Other games, including other tournament sites and matchups, in addition to broadcast information, will be announced at a later date. 


Fall Schedule

Fans will have multiple chances to see the Cougars in action during the offseason this fall thanks to six intrasquad Blue/White games in the course of two months beginning with a scrimmage Thursday, Sept. 29. Other scrimmages will be held on Oct. 10, 12, 17 and 19. 

BYU will also host six games this fall against various schools from around the state at Gail Miller Field beginning with a Tuesday contest on Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. against Utah Valley. That weekend the Cougars will also play College of Southern Idaho on Oct. 7 and Salt Lake Community College on Oct. 8. BYU will then host Snow College, Southern Utah and Salt Lake CC the following weekend, Oct. 14-15. The Cougars close out the fall schedule on Oct. 22 with a doubleheader at Dixie State.
